Debug Mode

Published on July 30, 2025

WordPress provides a debug tool to help debug an error on a website.

Enabling debug mode will display information on a live website which is visible to visitors. If you are debugging a live website, we recommend creating a debug log file instead of enabling debug mode.

Enable debug mode

To enable WordPress debug mode:

  1. OpenΒ WebsitesΒ in the left sidebar
  2. Locate the website you would like to change the auto-update schedule for and clickΒ Manage
  3. When the website dashboard loads selectΒ Apps
  4. Select Manage on the application you would like to enable debug on
  5. Scroll toΒ Debug
  6. ToggleΒ WP_DEBUG,Β WP_DEBUG_LOGΒ andΒ WP_DEBUG_DISPLAYΒ On/off
